E-VITA

The E-VITA project is being coordinated by imaginary, and developed in the frame of the Lifelong Learning Programme, Key Activity 3.
The primary objective of the E-VITA project (European life experiences) is to capture the experiences of people who lived before the European Union was established, and give younger generations the chance of actively reliving the same experiences in a virtual context.
Individual experiences, biographies, traditions and knowledge from different European countries will be documented and shared, using motivating and captivating web-based Serious Games.
To achieve this objective, some cultural games based on the experiences of senior citizens will be developed at a European level. The stories will be gathered with the "storytelling" technique, which is grounded in the belief that learning from someone else's experience means not only improving your knowledge, but also sharing the emotional and social understanding derived from an empathic involvement in the lives and experiences of others.
The project focuses on the following objectives:
-
Applied research on game-based learning, innovative concepts and didactic models, which are necessary to exploit the opportunities arising from learning with games for knowledge sharing. A learning and exchange environment will be developed and tested to meet the interests, motivation, skills, experiences, and wishes of the elderly. This environment will, more generally, try to involve anyone who is interested in learning from the experiences and the knowledge of elderly generations, including those living in different countries;
-
Intergenerational learning and exchange processes, as well as lifelong learning programmes, will be promoted in an informal way;
-
The exchange of intercultural competences will be encouraged. In the project's structure, elderly people who have experienced different historical periods and events, and who know past habits, experiences and traditions, will have the opportunity to share their experiences and enable others to learn from them;
-
Promotion of the European identity and citizenship: those who are able to understand the history, culture and results of the European integration process have the capability to act sensibly and socially in both the present and future. They are capable of taking on the responsibility of active European citizenship, and in this way strengthening European unity.
